Dario Franchitti Winner 2010

The Indy 500 results are in. For the second time, Scottish driver Dario Franchitti had been named winner in today’s Indianapolis 500-Mile race. British Dan Wheldon finished second, while another British racer Alex Lloyd came in at third.

The Indy 500 is one of the most watched sporting events in America. The event is usually held in front of crowds with numbers that reach 200,000. There are also a number of celebrities who attend the event on a yearly basis, including Jack Nicholson.

The question that everyone has been asking regarding this years race is whether or not Helio Castroneves will be able to secure his fourth career victory in the race. Castroneves would be joined by a host of other drivers including A.J. Foyt, Rich Mears and Al Unser who have previously won the race on four different occasions throughout their career.

While Castroneves has had a great track record at the Indy 500, that doesn’t mean that he is the only contender with a real chance at winning. This years fleet of racers is among the most talented in the history of the sport. With racers like Danica Patrick, who are talented enough to take the race at given moment, Castroneves will be forced to remain on his toes throughout the entire race.

Tony Kanaan, a team mate of Danica Patrick’s has been gaining attention in recent days after announcing his strategy to try and move up in the race early. He will be starting in the second to last position, and has said that he would like to make a move early in the race to secure him a shot at the win toward the end.
