The Weinstein Company decided to move their space thriller Apollo 18 all around the release calendar, before landing on a date this fall.

Directed by Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego and produced by Timur Bekmambetov, this new trailer strips away all the story and just highlights a few creepy scenes.



It’s not grabbing me the way Paranormal Activity did, likely because of the less realistic space setting, but it looks somewhat interesting.

Mazda Recall Spiders - In Friday's terrifying news story of the day, a tiny spider's web might crack apart your car engine and start a fire. But only if you have a Mazda 6. And no one has any idea why this is happening.

The news has forced Mazda to recall 65,000 cars in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The spider is the yellow sac spider. Mazda dealers reported 20 cases of webs being found in a vent connected to the fuel tank system. The webs could clog the ventilation system, applying pressure to the fuel tank, which could then crack and cause a fuel leakage. The Associated Press reports:

Wes Leonard Fennville

wes leonard fennville - Heartbreak and shock hit a Michigan high school basketball on Thursday, when before hundreds of spectators, Wes Leonard star player collapsed and died after a game-winning shot in overtime with his team closed a perfect season.

Leonard, 16, of Fennville High went to a cardiac arrest and did not respond after the game, say news reports. He rushed to the hospital around 9:15 in the Netherlands and 85 minutes later pronounced dead, according to hospital spokeswoman Deb Patterson. The cause of death has not yet been determined.

Texas Independence Day

Texas Independence Day - Documents signed in 1836 - Houston Chronicle: "A handwritten document proclaiming Texas was freeing itself from rule by Mexico is 175 years old.

Wednesday is Texas Independence Day. It was March 2, 1836, when historians believe the original and five copies of the declaration were made and signed.

Only the original remains. The pages are on a now rare public display into April at the Texas Archives and Library in Austin.

2012 Olympics Logo is Racist?

Iran objects to the logo for that 2012 London Olympics, contending it’s racist because it resembles the word “Zion” and warning of a feasible boycott from the games.

The secretary general of Iran’s National Olympic Committee stated Iran sent a letter to International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge. The letter claims the 2012 logo spells out “Zion,” a biblical term extensively identified to refer towards the city of Jerusalem.

In feedback carried through the official IRNA news agency Monday, secretary general Bahram Afsharzadeh mentioned the letter urges other Muslim states to oppose the “racist logo.”

Georgetown Cupcake

Georgetown Cupcake has created a new cupcake to benefit the Smithsonian's National Zoo.

The honey-banana flavored cupcake is called "Gone Bananas!" It's on sale through March 4 at the cupcake stores in Georgetown and Bethesda. All proceeds will benefit the zoo's conservation programs.

The zoo also is being featured in the season two premiere of the TLC TV show, "DC Cupcakes" airing Feb. 25. As part of the show, Georgetown Cupcake presented the zoo with a life-size gorilla sculpture made from hundreds of cupcakes.
